When we look at ourselves or another person what do we see?
A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. (Wikipedia)
When we look at ourselves or another person what do we see? Is it what we want to see or a deeper essence? In this class, we challenge what we see. We discuss it and create images and/or objects of insight and verification.
There is no right or wrong here, initially it is all about each individuals interpretation and then their created expression. Once judgment is lifted, together we are free and in this class the artists fly to places and look back to look forward. This is what art has always been about.
Yes, a portrait is about seeing and the essence.
